Don't Cancel Your Plans: Stock Up On These Items!

Vancouverites barely survived their last earthquake in January 2016. Coffee was spilled, donuts were squashed, and worst of all, the patio furniture was askew. 

Californianites could give some tips to Vancouverites about how to survive the big one. For now, they'll just have to be happy with these geeky tips on how to survive the big earthquake. 

1. Sonic Screwdriver

You don't need just any old Doctor's screwdriver, you need River Song's sonic screwdriver. "Sweetie, it'll get you out of a pickle in no time," she would say.  

2. Police Public Call Box AKA The TARDIS

At the first sign of trouble, head to your nearest Police Public Call Box. Here you can hang out while you wait for the police to arrive. But if you live in most cities, that never happens, so your next best step is to call the Doctor. 







3. Fancy Drinks. 

Guinan in Star Trek would serve up the most amazing drinks in her Ten Forward bar. Follow suit by mixing up your very own. After all, if you don't, chances are those bottles are going to break and make a mess all over the floor. What a waste!

4. The Sanctuary

In the television series, the Sanctuary was a vast underground lair where the supernatural creatures of the Earth could hide from nefarious scientists who only wanted to tear them apart for study. It would also make a great spot to hide.

4.3 Earthquake 
on December 30, 2015

Vancouverites everywhere are recovering from the effects of the 4.3 earthquake from last night. They were enjoying one of the first peaceful nights since Christmas when a hard jolt shook them awake.

It's unknown how long it will take Vancouverites to recover, and clean up the mess, but one thing's certain, they're tough and as resilient as the hockey they enjoy.

Oh no, not the Timmy's drink!

It's hard to tell if it was like this before or after the earthquake.

There goes one fine glass of whine.

BC Government Asks: Citizen, are you ready for the Zombie Apocalypse?

Today, for your amusement let’s chat about the Zombie Apocalypse. You won’t need a job after December 21^st, right?!

Apparently the BC (British Columbia) government has decided that a Zombie Apocalypse is a real threat and has set up a website and blog with coping strategies. Click here to check it out.

While it’s not new to post online tips about the Apocalypse, the American CDC did the same last year, but it is unusual for a government hopping on the bandwagon. In a few week's time I won't be surprised to see a website telling us that the threat is imaginary and for no need to panic!

I don’t see a specific date mentioned, though it is claimed that the Mayan’s calendar ends on December 21^st. But then they found a new calendar going into the 2040s, so now I won't have to worry about an Apocalypse until I’m old and grey. I need not worry about what I have to save up for retirement as I can just plunder what I want from Safeway in 2040ish and/or the neighbours. They leave their door open so the zombies will get them first.

With the recent NDP haranguing the Conservative government on every issue from cuts in education, health and federal employees, I’m pleasantly surprised to see this new website. It offers some great tips on survival strategies and what to store in your supplies kit.

Apparently the goverment felt their citizens weren't taking earthquake preparedness serious enough, so they set up this wonderful new website. Their hope is to reach a segment of the population, approximately 95%, that generally ignores what they have to say.
